In 2015, I had the crazy idea to model one of the most perfect anatomical models of the human body in the world. I thought it would be a piece of cake because I’ve been doing 3D animation and graphic design since 1996. During the modeling process, my colleague Ivan joined the project and took on the programming part.
We started from scratch, making our own model of the human body. Surrounded by encyclopedias of anatomy, we started modelling every bone, tendon, blood vessel and internal organ – all in 3D! The next step involved mapping texture onto each body part. Then we hand-shaded the surface textures so that the resulting visual matched the real organ. Next we had to optimize and incorporate everything into the system. As if that wasn’t enough, we also had to place each organ in the hierarchy, add the name and description, and consult with medical experts from Memorix Anatomy.
In 2019 , when we worked on the app for more than 8,000 hours, we released the first edition of Anatomyka app, where only the musculoskeletal system was included. Over the next few years, we released more anatomy systems, added interesting features and translated the app into 8 languages. We are still working on the app and this year you can look forward to more useful features, especially the Anatomy Quiz and also the sharing of electronic posters.
We created the Anatomyka app not only for students but for all human anatomy enthusiasts. Any ideas, comments and constructive criticism are more than welcome.
